  • Late January 2004: APPA Private Practice Business Conference and Expo, at the Olympic Collection.  Speakers’ topics will include the future of Medicare, the future of organized medicine, and urgent regulatory compliance issues.  The Expo area will feature representatives from healthcare business support services including legal firms, compliance consultants, practice management consultants, healthcare marketing firms, website design firms, Merrill Lynch Small Business Services and others.
  • October 27, 2003:  St. John’s Hospital presents Senator Sheila Kuehl speaking on Senate Bill 921, “Universal Healthcare for All Californians”, Sheridan Four Points Hotel.  SB921 is a socialized, single-payor program which will eliminate Medicare, Medicaid and all employer insurance for California.  A new California Healthcare Agency (CHA) would control all doctors and hospital care.  This bill has passed the State Senate, and supporters are rallying to push it through the assembly.  St. John’s supports this plan.  Doctors Taw, Hawley and others will attend to voice APPA’s opposition.
  • October 22, 2003:  APPA Practice Mangers’ Meeting, Gateway Hotel Conference Room.  “HIPAA Compliance—Will it ever end?”, Richard Sinaiko, Practice Management Consultant.
